Throughout my life I’ve learned what works for me as far as food, and have picked up a few tricks from older women who have shared their tricks with me.
SNACKS:
When I’m stuck or taking a little longer to eat something healthy, I eat almonds. That way I do not over eat! Just a hand full. I keep them in my car or purse in a zip-block bag. I switch between with plain or smokehouse flavors.
Justin’s Almond Butter is another snack I keep in my purse. They are available at Publix or Target. It can get a little messy though.
MEALS:
Normally I eat tuna, salmon, chicken, or tilapia. I also eat it with a side of broccoli, baked potato, mashed potato, sweet potato, or spinach.
Eating salads is not my thing { especially iceberg } but if I have to eat it… I eat baby spinach or dark salads. Dip my fork in the salad dressing vs. pouring it on my salad.
If you must have a hamburgers; keep the top bun off! Warning: people might look at you crazy.
LIQUIDS:
Calories from liquids creep up on you. If I must have something to drink its normally a downtown (half tea half lemonade); restrict it to one glass and drink water on my refills.
Lemon with water is delicious and refreshing.
Cheat meals but not cheat days. It’s all a balance. These are some of the tricks I use that have helped me. What tricks have helped you?
